Giveaway and Interview: Red Madrassa by Terah Edun Blog Tour Stop

Red Madrassa by Terah Edun
A magical accident threw them together. But when Fate holds all the cards, it can be impossible to tell the difference between pure chance and Destiny...
Allorna thought being a hereditary guardian meant an automatic posting with the royal family. Instead, she's assigned to Petty Larceny—which has its moments, especially when she engineers a jailbreak and finds herself on the run from her colleagues.
With healer trainee Sidimo in tow, she sets out to save Maride, a young mage unjustly accused of murder. But now she has to clear her name as well. Easier said than done, especially when they accidentally enroll at the Red Madrassa, a legendary school of magic.
Alongside Vedaris, a sarcastic dragon-boy, and Sitara, a storm-caller, they soon find themselves hooked on their studies. The road they've stumbled upon is a challenging one, and now each must decide whether the Madrassa is where they truly belong...

interview with Blkosiner's Book Blog

--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
Magic, myth and five teens on a mission at a legendary school.

--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
Yes! I have a new book coming out in March 2013. Sworn to Raise, the 1st in my Courtlight series, features the Prince and his Companion – Ciardis. This book is set in the same world as Red Madrassa and is a companion novel.

--What book(s) is your book’s “cousin”? (Similar set-up or style)
Hmmm, well reviewers have told me my book is fairly similar in make up to the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. But my personal choice would be the Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce.

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
I still have tons of time to read – it’s my way of relaxing. Favorite books include the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead, the Graceling series by Kristin Cashore and the Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima.

--If a fairy godmother told you could be put into the world of your favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
I would pick the Valdemar realm of Mercedes Lackey – particularly Arrows of the Queen. I love the idea of Heralds, magic and the innate goodness of the people serving the Queen.

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
My iPhone playlist, a comfortable desk and iced coffee are necessities. The only thing I can give up would be the iced coffee. As for music I love listening to soundtracks while I write – for instance the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Chronicles of Narnia.

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I want Rogue’s power from X-Men. She can absorb the abilities of anyone else. It would be cool to have any superpower ever.
