Steel Lily by Megan Curd Guest Post

Title: Steel Lily
Author: Megan Curd
Genre: DysTopian
Summary:

AVERY PIKE is a commodity. No, more than a commodity. Her existence is guarded at all costs.
She’s a water Elementalist, the strongest of her dwindling kind. She creates steam to provide energy to fuel Dome Three: the only thing standing between humanity and an earth ravaged by World War III. No steam, no Dome. No Dome, no life.
Or so she thinks.
That is, until a mysterious man offers her a way out of having to donate steam. A way to escape the corrupt government of Dome Three. While the offer seems too good to be true, Avery is intrigued.
But when she arrives to her new home, she realizes the grass isn’t any less dead on this side of the fence. Instead, the lies are just hidden better.
…Which means digging deeper.
When Avery enlists the help of her friends to uncover the truth, it may make her wonder if she was better off being a government tool than searching for freedom.
Some secrets are better left concealed, but humankind was never meant to live in a cage. And when you can control the most sought after resource, you can learn to control anything…including the fate of your world.

Guest post with Blkosiner's Book Blog
--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with? I would love to have dinner with Riggs. He was such a fun character to love and hate. You’ll see when you read the book, but there’s so much more to him. I hope to really let readers get to know him more in the subsequent books.

--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates? I’m working on STEEL LILY’s sequel, called IRON PENDULUM right now. I’m hoping to have it released by Christmas, if the writing gods allow. No official teasers yet, but I always post little snippets on my Facebook fan page…because I can’t help myself. :)

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read? I don’t have a ton of time to read at the moment, but I LOVE reading. Some of my favorite books are the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling, Divergent series by Veronica Roth, Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and anything by Dan Brown.

--If a fairy godmother told you could be put into the world of your favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
I would pick Harry Potter, hands down. I mean really, who wouldn’t want to go to Hogwarts for a day?

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
I need all of the above, haha! I love having coffee, and I go to the two local cafes to write most of the time. I always need music. Actually, as I write this, “Little Lion Man” by Mumford & Sons is playing. I have a lot of different music interests, but STEEL LILY was written with Muse’s “The 2nd Law” album pretty much on repeat. That whole album was written for Steel Lily, I’m convinced!

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Flight. Then I could go wherever I wanted! :)

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
I love to spend time with my husband and son, snowboard, travel, and play my xbox. I also have this really bad closet obsession with collecting Starbucks coffee mugs. So…there’s that, too. :)

--What is one thing you would tell your 15 year old self? Don’t be afraid to shoot the ball, and don’t be worried about what anyone else thinks if you miss the shot. I played basketball, and I analyzed every game, wondered if I should shoot or not. If I went back, I’d just gun the heck out of the ball any chance I had. And darn it, I’d play some defense. :)

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
I just want to say THANK YOU to each and every one of you. There are truly no words to express how much I appreciate you guys. You’re the reason I keep writing. <3 o:p="">
THIS OR THAT

Summer or Winter? Winter. I hate heat! If I could have perpetual autumn with snow nearby, that would be perfect.
Morning or Night? Night. I can’t function before ten am, and even then I need my coffee. However, you’ll find me tweeting up a storm at 2 am half the time.
The Vampire Diaries or The Walking Dead? I DON’T WANT TO CHOOSE! Don’t make me! I love them both. I can’t choose who I love on TVD, but I’m pretty sure it’s all of them…and if Daryl Dies on The Walking Dead, I’m rioting. You heard it here first.
Tea or Coffee? Again…both! But generally I’d choose coffee.
Harry Potter or Lord of The Rings? Harry Potter by default, but I love me some Hobbitses too, precious.
Cable or Internet? Internet. I would DIE without it. Well maybe not…but I’d probably hyperventilate and wonder what to do with all my time if I wasn’t in the tweeting or facebooking vortex of doom. :)
Coke or Pepsi? Coke. No other substitutions. My mom once tried to pull a fast one and get RC. It was awful, and I haven’t recovered yet.
TV shows or Movies? TV shows, generally. I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Big Bang Theory. I think I married a less obnoxious, yet equally smart version of Sheldon Cooper. Don’t tell him I said that. :)
Video Games or Board Games? Video games if I’m alone but I love playing board games with my friends in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. We have a couple friends who have a son (he’s 13), and he plays with us. I have beat that child ONE TIME in a game. I was convinced I should probably retire after that. I didn’t even win the game…I just beat him. It was enough for me. :)
Shower or Bath? Shower generally
Rain or Snow? Snow. Snow, snow, snow. I have a snowflake tattooed on my foot, and I snowboard religiously when time allows. Did I say I love the winter and snow? Because I do. <3 o:p="">
Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew? Dr. Pepper
Scary or Comedy? Comedy. I used to be a HUGE horror buff…and then Saw II scarred me for life. Never, ever again. Something broke in me that day, so I’m thinking they did their job. Now I’m all about the comedy! I actually just went and saw The Heat, and it is HILARIOUS. Go see it. I love Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. They were phenomenal together.
Latte or Expresso? Either/or. Can I get it in an IV drip?
Tattoos or Piercings? I have both…but I love my ink. I have 8 tattoos, and I wouldn’t be opposed to another.
Snowboard or Ski? Snowboard. That was was easy, huh? :)

Review: Traitor by Megan Curd

Traitor (Bridger, #2)
Traitor by Megan Curd

Ashlyn never believed in fairy tales until she was in one.
They say ignorance is bliss, but not when you're on a centuries old hit list...and there's a traitor in your midst.
Ashlyn must decide what's most important: trusting the allies she has, or siding with those she thought were enemies. Ashlyn knows old friends can turn on her, and unlikely allies may be the best chance she has to piece her family back together. No matter what her choice, she could lose someone she loves.
And when you don't know who to trust, believe one thing: You can never trust a faerie.
Released in US: March 17th 2012
2nd in Bridger Series, 1st is Bridger, and I can't find any info on the 3rd, though Megan is my twitter buddy and maybe she'll give me an idea :)
Here's a link to my review of Bridger

My Review:
It took me all of five seconds to get sucked in the adventure packed world of Ashlyn, the awesome main character that Megan has crafted. Megan is strong, stubborn, and cares so much for her friends and family. Ash has a wit and humor about her that I can't help but fall in love with and be invested in her until I get to the last page and beyond.
I was up until all hours of the night reading this, and didn't want to stop until I got to the last page, and even then, I still wished that there was more to read.
The other characters that I loved, Liam the hot love interest. My heart broke for some of the things that he and Ash went through and had to deal with, and I love the heated moments we see between them. Meemaw is present and kick ass as ever. I love every scene that she is in, and I never know what to expect. I also love hearing what other people think about her, and how she invokes such a response from people. When I get old, I wanna be just like her, lol.
It wouldn't be complete without talking about how awesome Reece is. My heart goes out to him and his feelings, and the sacrifices he makes for the people he cares about. He is such a great best friend, even in those moments he is being hard-headed and you want to strangle him a little. I almost cried near the end at what he did, and I can't wait to see what happens in his story next.
There is never ending action, and surprises and twists that I never saw coming. Megan keeps me on my toes, and I can't wait until the next one to find out what happens to these characters that I have come to love and care about so much.

What do you think of this book and/or my review?
What's the greatest sacrifice that you've made for a friend or a friend has made for you?

My review:

Bridger creates a magical and intriguing world that held my attention and left me wanting so much more.
The characters are great and beautifully written. Ash had me at hello with such an emotional connection right away. Ash has a strong voice and I love how there are funny moments thrown in at all the right times.
I loved and hated the presence of MeMaw right away, she has such a strong personality, and I love where the character arc goes.
I also love the sarcasm and easy going nature between her and Jaime at the beginning, I’m such a sucker for sarcasm J The introduction of Reese kept me even more intrigued too. Their relationship is pretty undefined, but they have a different but still strong bond than with her and Jaime.
And if I thought I was attached to the story, I didn’t know anything until Liam came on the scene. Swoon!
This is action packed, and I never knew what to expect coming next, but Megan wove it all together and created one amazing story. She’s a genius and I can’t wait for more.

I def recommend that you read this one RIGHT NOW!
