"Riley Bloom left her sister, Ever, in the world of the living and crossed the bridge into the afterlife—a place called Here, where time is always Now. Riley and her dog, Buttercup, have been reunited with her parents and are just settling into a nice, relaxing death when she's summoned before The Council. They let her in on a secret—the afterlife isn't just an eternity of leisure; Riley has to work. She's been assigned a job, Soul Catcher, and a teacher, Bodhi, a curious boy she can't quite figure out.

Riley, Bodhi, and Buttercup return to earth for her first assignment, a Radiant Boy who's been haunting a castle in England for centuries. Many Soul Catchers have tried to get him to cross the bridge and failed. But he's never met Riley..."

*My short but sweet review*

This is a cute, clean and quick read. I finished it today. I didn't realize (or more likely forgot) that this was a spin-off from Immortals, but when I saw Riley's name and Buttercup I remembered.
I was kind of sad that we didn't get much detail on her interactions with Ever, or her thoughts on it, but I guess that we saw enough of that with Evermore.
It is a quick delve into the afterlife, and you get a sense of resolution, which is good with all of the cliffies out there today.
I still recommend it, Radiance has a good thing going, and I will definitely be reading the second because Radiance has lots of potential.

I would love to hear what you think and if you have reviewed, feel free to link and I will read and comment back!

  2. Hmm. I guess I did leave it sounding kind of negative. I did like it and do recommend, I just wouldn't say "Drop everything and read right now!"- That is more what my 5/5 means- Light of Asteria got such a rating and recommendation.
I would say, put on your TBR pile.

  5. I really enjoyed Radiance. Behind a bit in my review posting, though. I think that younger fans of the Immortals series will devour it!
