  1. I've heard a lot of buzz about Richelle Mead's books but haven't actually read any of them yet. Loved Poison Study by Maria Snyder though!

  2. Great picks! I'd have to add Rick Riordan to my list :)

  6. I haven't read Terry Goodkind, but my husband has. Maybe I should pick up one of his books.

  7. Can you really put Rowling and Meyer's on the same list together.

Do you suppose Meyers books will still be read 10 -15-20 years from now?

I the Rowling has staying power where Meyers has pop power.

  9. Awesome selection of authors. I adore Cassandra Clare as well and love Richelle Mead. And of course, JK Rowling. I have yet to read any of Maria Snyder's books, but will make a point to get around to it soon.

  10. @Danya and thebookfairyhaven: Vampire Academy is one of my favorite series, you should try it out if you have time

@Melissa- I haven't been able to get into Riordan's stuff so far, maybe I should try again in a different mood.

@Sarah- it sure is! Some of the combinations are interesting too.

@Loni- Goodkind is not YA but it is a fantasy series (a reallly long one at that) but the world and characters are really well done.

@Alex- No, Twilight probably will not still be as popular, but HP might not either. Both got people into reading, or they read it if they didn't like other things. Same case with me. Its just who I like :D

  11. I know Goodkind, Meyer, and Rowling, but all the others are new to me.

Sometimes I feel amazed at how many wonderful writers are out there.

  12. Great list, Meyer, Rowling and Clare were on my list too. Does your list change? Or are these always your favourites?

  13. I play a mix of oldies (Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, ABBA, Gordon Lightfoot) and contemporary folk/pop/soft rock (KT Tunstall, Amy Macdonald, Brandi Carlile, Sarah McLachlan)...I stay clear of anything too raucous like heavy metal though! :D Guitar's a super fun instrument & so versatile.

  14. @Library Gal- different days might give you slightly different answers, but these would probably be among top 10-20.

@Danya- that is awesome- I have always wanted to learn to play, but I am not very musical.

  17. I think Twilight will still be big with me 10 years from now, but it'll probably lose steam with the general public. For some reason, it's captured me more than any other series ever has (other than babysitter's club books).

I loved Lurlene McDaniel when I was a kid. Her Amish series was my fav.

  19. Great list! Maria Snyder, Cassie Clare, Kate Kaynak, JK Rowling, LJ Smith and Stephenie Meyer are some of my favorites too! It is nice to see Kate's name on there, she is a great, not as widely known writer, but I am sure it will not be for long. She is definitely one to watch out for.

  21. I just finished Minder and can't wait to start reading Adversary! Kate is incredibly talented, and also one of the nicest, funniest people I've had the pleasure of meeting. I look forward to her future works.
