NaNoWriMo

So--readers and writers, what do you think of NaNo? Are you doing it this year? Why or why not? Have you participated in the past?
I've done it before, and can't decide if I am this year. So far I haven't written anything since I've been pregnant, and I don't know if I can manage moving, a toddler, and being 8 months preggo trying to write a book, or at least 50k...
But that said, I REALLY want to, and I have a few ideas and *rough* outlines.

  1. Sounds like you've already got your hands full Brandi! I can't imagine juggling everything you are and still trying to write, I'd fall over from sheer exhaustion:)

  2. I love Nano. Nothing gets me more motivated than Nano. I'll be doing it this month. My first novel, Woman of Honor, started out as a 50K nano piece of art (piece of art is a rather generous term). :)

  3. I love NaNo, I did it for the first time last year and now have a book ready for publish (if only I could find someone to publish it!)
I tried to do the summer one and got really close. I was at 48,900 by midnight the last day.(I haven't finished writing that since, I need to get on with it)
I have loads of new ideas so am really looking forward to joining this November.
It sounds like you've got your hands full but you have to ask yourself - 'is it worth it' and 'will I be disappointed if i don't join in'.
Maybe set yourself a lower target than the standard 50K.
If you decide to do it let me know, we can 'buddy' up if you like. ;D

  4. I really enjoy participating in NaNoWriMo. It's so much fun to push yourself to complete a novel in 30 days. I think I'm going to do this year too, I just need to nail down a story idea to run with.

Good luck if you end up participating.

  5. I tried it last year and failed. I had a lot going on then and it was hard, very hard. I have been getting my outline ready for this year. I need to finish that! I hope I actually finish the full 100K this year. If you do it good luck! Sounds like you have a lot going on!

  6. Oh my gosh, I remember NaNo! I wanted to participate last year but I found out too late. I wish I could this year, but my school workload has just doubled, and blogging doesn't exactly leave much more free time around clubs and stuff... LOl. x)

But I can't imagine how much busier you must be with your baby! I hope you can find time to participate if you want to, Brandi! :)

  7. I would love to do Nano. But my blog takes up so much time, that I couldn't do it without seriously neglecting something. My goal should be to just write anything rather than a novel.

  8. I tried last year, but got sidetracked a lot. I have a really neat idea if I do try it. I'm just not sure I can commit the time needed, but who knows... maybe if I schedule it in then I can get it done. :) I would really like to see where this idea leads though. :)

  9. I won the first year I did it in 2006 (when I was living in Japan and much more secluded with gobs of free time), but never since. Plus, I can't churn out crap and words that won't matter later. I just can't! I also am in the middle of my WIP atm and don't want to start something new...unless by some miracle I finish in the next month and then...maybe I'll start book 2...but...mmm...
