Hope's Journey Blog Tour: Guest Post and Giveaway info

Hope's Journey by Stehpanie Worlton
A couple since their sophomore year, Sydney and Alex are looking forward to graduation and a bright future together. Sydney is straight-A student trying to decide between college scholarships and Alex is a quiet jock preparing to serve a mission. Both active members of the LDS Church, their hopes and dreams painfully fade when they learn that Sydney is pregnant. The very foundations of their faith are shaken, as is their relationship. Separately, they venture through confusion, self-doubt, and failure as they learn the value of forgiveness and try to piece their broken lives back together.

Interview
--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
“A life changing mistake. A soul changing journey.” Because none of us are perfect.

--How did you get the idea for the story?
I have the opportunity to work with a lot of youth and, having had a personal experience with teen-pregnancy, I saw a need that wasn’t getting filled anywhere else. Nowhere could I find a book – religious or otherwise – that dealt with the subject in an honest, blunt, yet approachable way. There’s nothing more powerful than a story that shares the realistic pitfalls and triumphs of ordinary people. If we can learn something from someone else’s mistakes, perhaps we will be less likely to make them on our own.

--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
Gramms. She is in so many ways my own Grandma whom was such a huge positive influence in my life. She is so quirky and “perfectly imperfect.” Dinner with her would not likely be a boring affair.

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
Reading, gardening, painting, designing, and being a mom.  I tried to become a runner, but learned how much I really don’t like it, but I love to walk. If I need to clear my head, I will go for a long (like 6-7 mile) walk. I also enjoy 4wheeling, camping, and playing card games with my family.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! We all come to this world uniquely packaged with our own talents, skills, and traits. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Don’t let other’s define you either. You are great! You are wonderful! Believe in yourself and LOVE yourself enough to make appropriate, brave decisions.

I’d have slowed down and enjoyed my youth so much more fully if I’d understood just how fleeting it was.
