Book Giveaway and Author Interview: Casey Barnes Eponymous by E.A. Rigg

Casey Barnes Eponymous

Casey Barnes Eponymous by E.A. Rigg
It's three weeks into the school year when music junkie Casey Barnes gets a second chance with her mysterious, heartbreaking ex-boyfriend. She comes up with a plan to win him back, but it soon spins out of control as rivalries, revelations about him, and music itself all start to collide. For Casey the newfound attention means learning the difference between wanting center stage and actually being on it.
Our Interview:

--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.

Three weeks into the school year music junkie Casey Barnes gets a second chance with the mysterious ex-boyfriend whose name she has not even been able to say. In hopes of saving studentkind from the hell that is high school, Casey has been slipping song playlists to fellow students while working in the library. When she gets another chance with her ex, she schemes to win him back by giving him one of the lists. Her plan works, but not quite in the way she hopes, and she realizes that truly winning him back will be a lot harder than choosing some killer songs. Namely, she will need to get the attention of the whole school in a way no one has ever done before.

--How did you get the idea for the story?

I am a high school teacher and deal with a lot of insolent kids whom I’m always disciplining. I thought it would be fun to create a book from the POV of one of those kids. And, as a music fanatic and former musician, I thought it would be really fun to write a book about a fifteen-year-old girl who thinks she is Mick Jagger.

--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?

Most: Casey and Ben. Least: Maxine French.

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?

I couldn’t not read! I just finished all the Hunger Games books. I don’t usually read that genre but they were amazing. Other favorite books in the past year were Girls in White Dresses, The Silver Linings Playbook, and Before I Go To Sleep.

--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?

I’m working on my second novel. No release date yet!

--If a fairy godmother told you your life could be like a favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?

The Great Gatsby. I want to go to one of Gatsby’s parties.

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?

I need coffee and peace of mind. I keep a hula hoop nearby. A few minutes of that can usually induce peace of mind when all else fails. Music is a huge part of my book so, yes, absolutely every song on every play list in the book inspired me.

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

Fly. Or be able to make a perfect three-course dinner every night without having to clean up afterwards.

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?

I read, do yoga, travel, try to keep up with my husband on a surfboard (and fail), make fun of his accent, imitate his accent, cook, and watch Downton Abbey and Boardwalk Empire.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?

Send me your playlists! You’ll know what I mean once you’ve read the book.

  3. Fun review! Is this only an e-book though? I'd love to read it, as I reallllllly like books that deal with music and one with lots of playlists? How fun! however, I don't have an e-reader and for me, paper over e-book is more my style. LOL
