Book Giveaway: (un) DEAD and author interview with Trinidad Giachino

(un) DEAD by Trinidad Giachino
In the 1950s, Richard Saussure is a Private Detective with a reputation for never leaving a job unfinished. A man named Lord Hurlingthon contacts him, requesting his abilities to solve a deeply personal mystery: Hugh Hurlingthon is two hundred and thirteen years old and can't die.
Or so he claims.
Saussure will have to discover if this man is telling the truth, and if so, why he can't cease to exist. Along the course of this investigation, Richard Saussure will question his beliefs while attempting to come to terms with his own past.

--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
Richard Saussure is a Private Detective and Lord Hurlingthon requests his abilities to solve a mystery: he is 213 years old and can't die.

--How did you get the idea for the story?
I was watching a documentary about a former president of Argentina and one of the guests said: “He was dying and he knew it”. And I though: “well, if you didn’t know you’re going to die, that would be a problem” and that was when lightening struck.
--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
Most: Irupé. I want to know what on earth Richard ate in the woods.
Least: Nasty Joe, he is just disgusting.

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
I’m a slow reader, so even with a lot of time in my hands, I don’t get a lot done.
My favorite books are: Absalom, Absalom! (W. Faulkner); Wuthering Heights (E.Brontë); The turn of the screw (H. James); Coup de grace (M. Yourcenar) and I could probably go on and on…
--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
The second book of the series is called (un)SEEN and will be coming out later this year. It will be following the case of a young blind woman in a search for her missing fiancée, but as Saussure investigates, he comes to realize that no one ever saw this young man.

--If a fairy godmother told you your life could be like a favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
Emma, by Jane Austen. Emma is such a people person, and I’m basically the opposite. Overall, it’s the brightest of Austen’s novel, in my opinion. Although, I wouldn’t mind being Elizabeth Bennet for an hour or two.

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
I need to be close to a window. Nature inspires and relaxes me. Music, coffee, cookies, it all comes and goes but I always take a break and go to my garden. And bare feet, I can’t write with my shoes on.
When it comes down to music, Sara Bareilles always does it for me, she is such a talented musician and storyteller. But sometimes I need wordless music, so I go for Jacqueline Dupree.

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I would love to write as fast as I think, so I don’t lose so many ideas in the road from brain to keyboard.

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
To absorb as much art/knowledge as I can: books, movies, plays, paintings, documentaries, anything that sparks my attention, because eventually will become inspiration.
Relaxing time away from the computer and anything containing words and or a screen, is equally important.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
Only that all the updates to the Detectives Saussure Mysteries can be found on the Facebook page under the same name. Oh, and that the series has ten installments, so there’s much more to come!

Lightning round: this or that?
Vanilla or chocolate? Chocolate
Edward or Jacob? Edward
Hockey or soccer? None. I’m a tennis fan
Ebook or paper? Both (sorry, I can’t choose)
Salty or sweet? Salty
Beach or mountains? Mountains
Phone call or email? Email
Early bird or night owl? Night owl
Dog or cat? Cat
Messy or neat? Some disgusting place in between
Ninjas or pirates? Pirates.
