Book Giveaway World of Ryyah: Birth of the Half Elves and Author Interview with H.L. Watson

World of Ryyah: Birth of the Half Elves
World of Ryyah: Birth of the Half Elves by H.L. Watson

Twelve-year-old Donovan and his best friend, Akenji, are standing on the riverbank in their small fishing village south of the Wood Elven Forest, dreaming about their future when, suddenly, Boric’s Barbarians invade and undertake a massive slaughter. The orphaned boys are kidnapped and face a life of slavery until an Elven commander, Alayna, and her Elven Rangers intervene. The boy’s fate changes when the brave and good-hearted Alayna defies Lord Aden’s orders to kill the human children. She instead obtains a begrudging permission to raise and train them in archery and sword tactics so they can serve as scouts for the Wood Elves. Under the nurturance of Alayna, the human boys learn that the Wood Elves are not the fierce creatures they had been taught to fear.

Our Interview:

--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
Donovan a young man goes on a journey to save a kidnapped princess and is met with difficult trials along the way that he must overcome to get her safely back home. The two characters eventually fall for each other in a way that is unexpected, and they grow closer to each other as their journey continues.

--How did you get the idea for the story?
I first came up with the concept of the World of Ryyah when I was in my early twenties and began thinking up interesting in-detail background stories for a videogame concept. As the years went on, I adopted many of my early concepts into what is now known as The Elven Age Saga book series.
--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
The character I would most like to have dinner with would be High lady Alousia (The main female characters mother) she is a character of immense wisdom and intelligence and I'm thinking someone could learn a lot from her while being in her company.  The least would me Garock (the main villain) He would be more likely to split my skull rather than talk about how fine the weather is today.

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
The Saxon Chronicles, by Bernard Cornwell.  All so B. V. Larson, Star Force Series I'm a huge fan of the Lord of the rings and Star Wars.  But most of all my trusty Bible which I read every day and have found that it has had a profound impact on my life.

--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
Well I'm currently working on book 2 in this current series (Unlikely Alliance) which I don't have a release date set yet but most likely will be released sometime in December of this year.

--If a fairy godmother told you your life could be like a favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?

I would have to say it would definitely be (Lord of the rings) I've often fantasized about being a great Elven warrior taking on and defeating the armies of evil.

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
Definitely!  Music is always something that helps me think up new and interesting ideas to put in my books.  Songs from artists like Celtic Woman, Skillet, BarlowGirl, and many others.

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Most likely the power to predict the future that would be very useful in Vega!

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoyed playing the occasional online game chatting with friends and spending time with them in general I'm a sucker for intelligent conversation.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
Yes I wanted to say thank you to many of the guys and gals that already reviewed book one in left positive feedback is very humbling to think that my work would be so well received I am very grateful to both my readers in God. Thanks for your support guys.
