About Alicia (from her site)

Alica McKenna Johnson writes about snarky girls, kind boys, and the adults trying to keep them alive. After day dreaming for the first thirty years of life, Alica finally began writing her stories down, much to the delight of her readers. As Alica sits in her armchair at home dreaming of traveling the world, her diverse characters explore for her listening to music, seeing the sights, and eating exotic foods.

You can follow her on Twitter , Facebook , and Pintrest

--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
Sara wakes up on her fourteenth birth day with scary new abilities and looking very different from when she went to sleep.

--How did you get the idea for the story?
I was watching the Secret of Roan Inish and wondering what if magical creatures other then Selkies had a human form and had children with people? As I pondered the different creatures and what their children would be like I finally came upon Phoenixes and the story took off from there.
--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
Of mine? Um I think I’d enjoy having dinner with Kayin, he grew up in Zimbabwe and his change into a Child of Fire was as shocking as poor Sara’s, but he’s more talkative then she is.
I wouldn’t want to have dinner with Caratazonon, he likes killing people.

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
I make sure I have time to read, and when my computer crashed I took the opportunity to read a lot. There are so many favorite books but three that I have read recently that stick out in my mind, My Life as a White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland, Shipbuilder by Maureen Dotterer, and Red by Kait Nolen.
--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
I do, Book Two of the Phoenix Child series has been written and is now going through my critique group and re-writes. And I have started Book Three. I also have an adult paranormal romance close to finished, I just need to research voodoo J
As for a teaser, I don’t really have one, as it’s being edited, but I can tell you Sara and her family travel to Argentina and Peru, with a Crique du Soleil style circus.

--If a fairy godmother told you your life could be like a favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
My pervy mind instantly went to he books with the sexiest men, but then I remembered that it’s an authors job to torture their characters. Hummm, do I really want to be trapped in a book, this takes careful consideration.
So a book with hot men, but the heroine doesn’t suffer too much. I’;m going to go with the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovitch, Morelli and Ranger yum, scary but mostly fun adventures, and lots of yummy food.

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I think being invisible, I’d love it if people could find me.

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
I love watching movies, especially foreign films, reading, and hanging out with my family.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
Here is the moment for something brilliant, and yet my mind is blank. I had a great time being here Brandi thank you so much!
