Review: Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman

 Beautiful Lies
Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman
Rachel and Alice are an extremely rare kind of identical twins—so identical that even their aunt and uncle, whom they’ve lived with since their parents passed away, can’t tell them apart. But the sisters are connected in a way that goes well beyond their surfaces: when one experiences pain, the other exhibits the exact same signs of distress. So when one twin mysteriously disappears, the other immediately knows something is wrong—especially when she starts experiencing serious physical traumas, despite the fact that nobody has touched her. As the search commences to find her sister, the twin left behind must rely on their intense bond to uncover the truth. But is there anyone around her she can trust, when everyone could be a suspect? And ultimately, can she even trust herself? Master storyteller Jessica Warman will keep readers guessing when everything they see—and everything they are told—suddenly becomes unreliable in this page-turning literary thriller.

Blkosiner's Book Blog review
This book kept me guessing, I sure can say that. There are so many factors, and I am not really able to trust any of the information given to me.
I felt like I knew where the missing twin was several times, and where something was off, but I never could piece everything completely together.
I think that Jessica Warman was very brave with the ending, and at first I thought it was opposite of what she intended, but I think that I am okay with it. It's definitely not wrapped in a pretty little bow, but the storyline is tied up and the sorrow is laced with sacrifice.
I wasn't completely in love with this book, but on the other hand, I had to know what happened.

My question to you, my lovely readers:
What would you do if you were connected to someone like Rachel and Alice are? Do you think you would like it or not?

  1. There's always that book that you keep reading not because you love it, but because you are so caught up in the drama and just have to know what happens.

  2. I don't think I would like being connected to anyone lol I'm kind of selfish. I admit it. This book sounds weird but that usually intrigues me. I liked to be kept guessing but at the same time I don't want to be confused or unsure of what is really happening if that makes sense. The ending worries me. Sounds like it will be sad and piss me off lol Been wanting to try something by this author.
