BOOK 1

Life on the Edge

Nineteen-year-old Emily is new to pairs skating, but she and her partner Chris have a big dream–to be the first American team to win Olympic gold. Their young coach Sergei, who left Russia after a mysterious end to his skating career, believes they can break through and make history.

Emily and Chris are on track to be top contenders at the 2002 Winter Games. But when forbidden feelings spark between Emily and Sergei, broken trust and an unexpected enemy threaten to derail Emily’s dreams of gold.

Author Jennifer Comeaux
Jennifer Comeaux earned a Master of Accounting from Tulane University and is a Certified Public Accountant in south Louisiana. While working for a Fortune 1000 company, she sought a creative outlet and decided to put on paper a story that had played in her head for years. That story became Life on the Edge, her first published novel.

When not working or writing, she is an avid follower of the sport of figure skating, travelling to competitions around the country. Those experiences allow her to see another side of the sport and serve as an inspiration for her writing. Jennifer is blessed with a wonderful family and many friends who have encouraged her to pursue her dream of being a published author.

--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
Can true love survive the ghosts of the past?

--How did you get the idea for the story?
After I wrote Life on the Edge, I wanted to continue Emily and Sergei’s story, and my editor suggested I explore Sergei’s past. I bounced around a few ideas and finally settled on the one that I thought would be the most emotional and heart-tugging.

--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
I would love to have dinner with Sergei because he’s super hot, haha! He’s a charmer, too, so I think he would be a scintillating dinner companion.

--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
I’m currently working on the third book in the Edge series. It will wrap up Emily and Sergei’s journey and also tell Aubrey’s story as they all prepare for the 2006 Olympics. I hope to release it sometime next year!

--What book(s) is your book’s “cousin”? (Similar set-up or style)
As I was reading Point of Retreat by Colleen Hoover, I realized it has some common ground with Edge of the Past. They both start with happy couples who had to overcome a lot to be together. Then a new set of problems arise and we find out if their love is strong enough to make it through these challenges, too.

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
My favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird. My favorite books I’ve read this year are Anna and the French Kiss and Easy. My reading time has diminished since I started writing, but I’ve been trying to fit in as many as I can!

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
I do like to listen to music while I write! I make playlists for each book with all the songs mentioned in the story and also some pieces that relate to the characters and their stories. For Edge of the Past, “Fall Away” by The Fray reminded me a lot of Sergei’s situation, and “Fragile” by Delta Goodrem was especially applicable to Emily’s emotions. You can find the entire playlist for Edge of the Past on my blog!

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I would love to be able to snap my fingers and be in another city. I travel a lot, and cutting out the hassle of airplanes would be great!

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
Traveling is something I love to do, especially to figure skating events. I’m also a college baseball fan and spend a lot of time at my alma mater Tulane’s ballpark during the spring. When I’m at home, I have a bit of a TV addiction to Once Upon a Time, Big Bang Theory, Pretty Little Liars, and Chicago Fire.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
I love to hear from readers, so don’t hesitate to contact me! I’m always online, whether it’s Twitter or Facebook or email J

Lightning round: this or that?
Vanilla or chocolate? 100% Chocolate
Edward or Jacob? Team Edward
Hockey or soccer? Hmm… I have to say neither (Football and baseball are much more my speed!)
Ebook or paper? Paper, but I’m quickly falling in love with my Kindle
Salty or sweet? Sweet
Beach or mountains? Beach
Phone call or email? Email
Early bird or night owl? Night owl
Dog or cat? Cat
Messy or neat? Neat
Ninjas or pirates? Pirates (I’m currently crushing on Captain Hook on Once Upon a Time)

    1. We don't see much hockey down here in south Louisiana, so I don't know much about it! Everyone's much more into football around here :)
