Author Interview: Luminescence by J.L. Weil

Luminescence by J.L. Weil
My dreams are anything but normal.
My temper sucks.
And the new guy at school is anything but average. With his bad boy attitude, disarming smirks and uber mystery shrouding him, Gavin Mason is mouthwatering hot. His stormy sapphire eyes are filled with secrets. One run in, literally and I was a goner. I mean picking my drooling tongue off the floor kind of gone.
Gavin might be dark and dreamy, but he wasn’t the guy in my dreams. Lukas Devine looks like the boy next door, and it’s his sunny face that heats up my unusual dreams. The closer I get to Gavin, the crazier they become. Then the unexpected happens, Gavin literally freezes an object mid-air saving my ass.Turns out the guy I am crushing hardcore on, is a witch.
Yep. You got it. A full-blooded witch. Magic just isn’t a myth, and Gavin and his family aren’t the only witches in town. But will I be able to accept my fate, a fate that might be unavoidable.

interview with Blkosiner's Book Blog

--How did you get the idea for the story?
I have always been fascinated with fantasy and paranormal – witches, vampires, werewolves, zombies. But, my favorite among those would have to be witches. There is a certain responsibility with that kind of power and what you do with it. I was drawn to the connection of the elements with emotions.
And what story wouldn’t be complete without a dreamy bad boy. Plus I am a sucker for romance – the whole true love, happily ever after jazz. Yep I am one of those girls.

--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
I would like most to have dinner with Gavin, well for the plain simple reason that he is hawt and I am fascinated by him.

--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
I do have some upcoming projects. Amethyst Tears, book 2 in the Luminescence Trilogy will be released on February 15th. I also have a 2nd series called Divisa. The first book, Saving Angel is current available along with a prequel novella Losing Emma.

--What book(s) is your book’s “cousin”? (Similar set-up or style)
I think my “cousin” book would probably be Twilight and maybe House of Night.

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
I am a huge fan of Nora Roberts, so I would have to say anything written by her would be my favorite. Some of my recent favorite books would be the House of Night books, Vampire Academy, The Immortals series, Wicked Lovely, and of course Hunger Games.
I haven’t had nearly as much time to read as I use to, and I do miss it.

--If a fairy godmother told you could be put into the world of your favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
Wicked Lovely. I would love to travel to the Summer and Winter court, and the chance at bumping into Seth wouldn’t be a hardship. He is my kind of guy.

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
I do consume an unhealthy amount of Starbucks (Raspberry Mocha would be my poison of choice). I also usually stream on Pandora depending on my mood, most days its country. I might live in the city but I am a country girl at heart.

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I would choose invisibility.

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
When I do have free time I usually read or catch up on some of my favorite TV series like Vampire Diaries and play video games with my two boys (Black ops II is my game of choice currently). I also love to country line dance.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
I love my readers. Every review or email that I receive from one of them is a reassurance of how much I enjoy writing. It has been quite a learning process to self-publish and the amount of support and help from readers and book bloggers is beyond amazing!

Lightning round: this or that?   *I love, love the lightening round*

  3. This is like a backwards "Beautiful Creatures." It sounds really interesting as she is having dreams about a different guy from the one that she is interested in. What could it mean? Guess I'll have to read the book to find out!
