TOTALLY ON ME. I didn't do my homework and I didn't know that it was in prose. I tried to see if my tastes had changed but they haven't. I can't get drawn into the character and the action when it is poetry.

Ohhh. I tried a prose book once but it wasn't really my thing =/ I'm sorry you don't like it either.
ReplyDeleteI'm 50/50 when it comes to ones being written like that. I just recently read The Kiss of Broken Glass which was so addictive that I couldn't put it down and read it in an hour. It didn't take me long to get into it (which was a surprise because of the writing style) so I guess it depends on if you connect to it or not.
ReplyDeleteI've never been the "new kid" in town, since when I moved, it was only like half an hour away from where I originally was. But, being the "new kid" when switching schools really suck.
I'm not sure if this is one that I would have picked up anyway. I don't tend to read a lot of books that are written in poetry form. Sorry it didn't work for you.

ReplyDeleteSorry this didn't work for you. I completely understand your feelings. It's hard for me to read books told in verse. I've seen great reviews of this book, so I might give it a chance should I chance on a copy :)

ReplyDeleteAhh, I like poetry prose occasionally, but it has to be done extremely well, which is often not the case.

ReplyDeleteI was six when I was the new kid in town. Thankfully at that age, I wasn't that shy so it was okay for me. Sorry this book didn't work out for you. I haven't read a book written in prose before and frankly, it doesn't appeal to me. So thanks for warning me about this one!

Ah, I was curious as to what DNF meant. I guess I have learnt now. I do find it hard to read prose books sometimes. I have only ever read one, by Malorie Blackman, that I could get all the way through...

ReplyDeleteI haven't been the new kid in town, really, because we moved when I was five or six, and it was a whole new neighborhood so we were all new together :)
This sounds like a beautiful story but I can totally understand why you couldn't finish it because it's written in prose. Thanks for sharing!
