Exclusive Giveaway and Interview: Romance is for Other People by Lee Wolf

Romance is for Other People Romance is for Other People by Lee Wolf

Lydia: “You must be sure you have a shot. But you don’t. Romance is for other people.”Jeremy: “Do you actually think I believe that?”
Chris Howard is content with being “Best Friends Forever” with Lydia Jamison, but Lydia secretly wants to go out with him. Meanwhile, Chris’ older cousin Jeremy and Amanda have a tumultuous love-hate relationship. After a recent fight with Amanda, Jeremy starts pursuing Lydia and refuses to leave her alone.
Lydia is at first disgusted, because Jeremy has been a pest to both her and Chris in the past. Chris doesn't believe that Jeremy has a chance with Lydia, and does nothing about it. But as Jeremy refuses to give up his pursuit….
Romance is for Other People is a unique novel told from first person from the point of view of two main characters: Chris and Lydia and their experiences with first love and first heartbreak.

--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
Chris & Lydia are best friends, Chris wants to stay friends but Lydia does not. But Jeremy, Chris' older cousin starts pursuing Lydia...
--How did you get the idea for the story?
I came up with the concept as a teenager.  I started off as a subplot for a more action-oriented book I was writing.  I was intrigued by the idea about a girl who is in love with someone else starts being pursued by another guy, who she is not interested in at first.  I wrote the plot points in bullet points, and 2010 I wrote my first full draft of the story.
--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
In my book, Romance is for Other People I would love to be a part of Chris and Lydia’s joint family BBQs.  I wouldn’t want have dinner with Jeremy, as he would inevitably turn all of the conversation towards himself.
--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
Yes, I do have a book I’m working on, a medieval adventure called “My Protector: The Legend of James and Sophia.”  I hope to release it in 2017.  Here’s the teaser: “What would you do if the 8-year-old girl you saved happened to be the princess…of an enemy kingdom?”
--What book(s) is your book’s “cousin”? (Similar kind of read, set-up or style)
Eleanor and Park are similar in set-up: though told in third person (mine is in first person), it goes back and forth between a boy and a girl in a high school setting.
--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order: Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell, Burlwood Forest by John Choquette, The Hunger Games Trilogy by Suzanne Collins, Polar Shift by Clive Cussler, The Horse and his Boy by C.S. Lewis, and Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader books.
--If a fairy godmother told you could be put into the world of your favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
I guess it would be Narnia from The Chronicles of Narnia.
--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
I sometimes listen to music. I have a “Book Soundtrack” playlist of Jessica Long & the New Kind songs that correspond to specific moments in the book.
--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I would want the super-ability to focus and not procrastinate.
--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
I watch Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube videos.
--What is one thing you would tell your 15 year old self?
Stay focused and don’t procrastinate!  Work on finding a degree with a helpful career track.
