And Here is my review
Thank you so much Beth, for your time and for answering questions for us!
--The Twitter
version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
AtU is a murder mystery in space :D
--How did you get the idea for the story?
The entire idea
of the novel came from the twist at the end. The entire book—the setting, the
characters, the plot—came from making the twist at the end work.
--Which
character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
In my own book?
I’d most like to meet with Amy; she’s fun and brave and says what she thinks.
I’d least like to eat with Eldest, as he’d probably try to kill me.
--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
I never have
enough time to read! My all time favorite books are the Chronicles of Narnia
and the Harry Potter books; most recently I’ve enjoyed LIPS TOUCH by Laini
Taylor and CHIME by Franny Billingsley.
--If a fairy godmother told you your life could be like a favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
Definitely
something from Narnia—the world’s amazing, and I’d love to live in it, even
during the winter years.
--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your book’s playlist-" songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
Not really! I
usually do have a cup of cho-coffee before work (hot chocolate mixed with
coffee), but it’s not necessary. I do have music playing while I work, but it
tends to be something that I know so well that I can tune out. While writing
AtU, I listened a lot to the Beatles song “Across the Universe” (obvs), and
also “Still Alive” by Lisa Miscovsky and “Fact/Fiction” by Mads Langer.
--Can you give
us any teasers from the sequel? Is there a
publication date?
No date yet. As
for a teaser: I’ll only say that at least two things you think are true from
AtU are actually…not.
--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
The ability to
control time! I want to be able to stop it and start it whenever I want, so I
can do things like read without getting behind schedule.
--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
Playing with my
dog, a big black Lab named Sirius (told you I like Harry Potter) and dreaming
about new places to go—I love to travel!
--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
AtU comes out
on January 11—I hope you all like it!

Awesome interview! I can't wait to read Across the Universe!
ReplyDeleteAs for a teaser: I’ll only say that at least two things you think are true from AtU are actually…not.
ReplyDeleteWhat?! My AtU reread will consist of me scouring the book for any little detail that may say 'this is not actually true.'
It's so sad that I read AtU even earlier than the release because I have to wait even longer for the sequel : (
All she has to mention is she's a HP fan and I like her already! Can't wait to read this one! Great interview :)
ReplyDeleteHi Brandy
ReplyDeletePlease take look at this post,I think there is repetition. I found a same answer and question twice.
I hope I can have my own copy of AtU this year
nice question
Thanks Misha and Aylee!
ReplyDeleteNikki- that is one of the downsides of reading books early!!
Aleetha- thanks for pointing it out- don't know how that happened but I fixed it.
What a lovely, lovely interview. I'm even more excited about reading this one now than I was before and boy do I wish I could also stop and start time whenever I wanted. Imagine all the reading that I'd manage to get done :D
ReplyDeleteAh yes- I would love to be able to manipulate time.
