Giveaway: Souled and author interview Diana Murdock

Souled by Diana Murdock
SOUL FOR SALE... Love. Power. Control.
The lure of having it all is strong, and when 17-year-old Seth is given the opportunity, how can he say no? And why should he? With nothing to lose and everything to gain, Seth is an easy target for the evil that invades his soul.
But love is a powerful force, and despite everything, Dani knows that the boy she fell in love with is hiding somewhere behind the darkness in his eyes, and she’s not about to give up so easily.
Time is running out and instead of having control, Seth is quickly losing it. Dani must rely on the truth in her heart to pull the dark force out of Seth. But will the power of love and faith be enough to conquer evil? Or is it too late for both of them?
One boy.
One girl.
One 1500-year-old soul determined to come between them... permanently.

--The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
A teen boy unknowingly invites another soul to share his body, and discovers not all power is good – especially when it was never his to wield.

--How did you get the idea for the story?
A few years ago, I wanted to open an online store and the family brainstormed for products to sell.  My son suggested I try selling my soul and the story grew from there.

--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
Silura.  Her ability to love and hate with equal passion would be interesting to experience.

--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
I am currently writing a novella for Alyx, a secondary character in Souled.  The story is the bridge between what made her who she is and what she will become to the other characters in Souled. After that, the sequel to Souled.

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
I try to read everyday, mostly when I’m on the treadmill and some before I fall asleep. The type of book depends on my mood, but I’ve been reading mostly young adult novels.

--If a fairy godmother told you could be put into the world of your favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
Lord of the Rings.  Love the setting, the characters, the magic, and the intensity of the time.

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
Pretzels or dry cereal work best for me.  Or chewing on the end of a pencil or pen will do as well!

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I’d love to teleport.  I’m all for getting from point A to point B in the quickest manner.

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
I love to run.  That is when I do my best thinking as well as dispels a lot of energy that tends to build up.

--What is one thing you would tell your 15 year old self?
Slow down and enjoy the ride.  Don’t hurry to grow up too fast.  Experience life and take risks.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
Read with open minds and no expectations.  Let the words speak to you without resistance.

Lightning round: this or that?
Vanilla or chocolate?  Vanilla
Edward or Jacob?   Jacob
Hockey or soccer? Soccer
Ebook or paper?  Both
Salty or sweet?  Sweet
Beach
or mountains?  Beach
Phone call or email?  Depends on who from
Early bird or night owl?  Early bird
Dog or cat?  Dog
Messy or neat?  A nice balance
Ninjas or pirates?  Pirates

  1. I can't decide if being sucked into Lord of the Rings would be terrible or not. On one hand, yes the world and characters are fantastic. On the other, EVERYTHING WOULD TRY TO KILL YOU. A toss-up, really.

  2. Ha! Hadn't thought about the getting killed thing, Kirsten, but would be willing to risk it if Aragorn or Legolas were there to save me!

    1. Thanks! The models are regular teens from Sandpoint. I wanted to give the story a real a feeling as possible. Both of them, I think, handled the job like pros.
