Iron Flower by Billy Wong
Action-packed fantasy adventure with one of the toughest heroines you've ever seen!
Years are only one way to age in this tale of a young warrior whose army-slaying sword belies her kind heart.
One of the greatest fighters in the world, nearly indestructible Rose lets few things strike fear into her—but magic is one of them. Nonetheless, she seeks out the magical dangers left by the ancients alongside warrior partner Finn and curious scholar Derrick in order to protect others from them. Their mission is complicated by Rose and Finn's budding romance, as her choice of lifestyle conflicts with his expectations for the woman he loves. But after their quest pits against such titanic foes as a prince able to slay a thousand men in a day and a draconic archmage, will Rose be forced to embrace the very magic she fears?
Second in the Iron Flower series, but you do not need to have read the first to enjoy this one - either is a fine starting point to the adventures of Rose.

The Twitter version: tell us about your book in 140 characters or less.
A fast-paced action fantasy in the vein of the old legends, with one physical powerhouse of an epic female warrior battling incredible foes.
How did you get the idea for the story?
I've always thought there weren't enough physically very powerful, nonmagical female warrior MCs in fantasy fiction, and the Iron Flower series is my way of giving it another one.
Which character would you most like to have dinner with?
Rose of course, in addition to the stories she could tell, she also has an awesome personality.
Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
Iron Tears, the fourth book in the Iron Flower series (3 are already out) will be released sometime in early July, around July 6 probably.
What book(s) is your book's "cousin"? (Similar kind of read, set-up or style)
David Gemmell's books, or Beowulf. :)
What are some of your favorite books?
Anything by David Gemmell, the Light Bearer books by Donna Gillespie, Last of the Amazons by Steven Pressfield, the Lord of the Isles series by David Drake, the Band of Four series by Ed Greenwood, the old Conan stories by Robert E. Howard, and things like that. Stuff with lots of fighting and awesomely kick-ass heroes.
If a fairy godmother told you you could be put in the world of your favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
My own book so I could meet THE ROSY ONE! :)
Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
I like to watch fantasy/sci-fi/horror movies, play video games, and, uh, waste time on the internet...
What is one thing you would tell your 15 year old self?
Self publish once the ebook craze starts! Don't wait until 2012!
Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
Even if fantasy isn't usually your genre, if you like strong female protagonists and lots of action, feel free to check this series out! The writing is VERY accessible... ;)
