Going into The Ruby Circle, I felt so torn. I couldn't wait to read more about Sydney and Adrian but I also knew that when this book was over, the stories with these two as the main characters would be over. I don't know if Mead has any plans to visit this universe again, but even if she does, while we got some updates from Rose and Dimitri and Lissa, it wasn't the same as being in Rose's head.

I love how nerdy Sydney is. She is smart and resourceful, she is loyal, and it has been hard for her to see the Alchemists acting in ways that she grew up believing they were someone different. And now she is on the run from them, but her and Adrian are closer than ever. She has found her chosen family in him, Neil, Eddie and Jill. Who they are desperate to find before it is too late.

I love being in Adrian's head. Seeing his devotion and love for Sydney and not just trusting. So the dual narrative is awesome for me. He is battling the use of spirit. He wants to, but he also has a hard time when he can't see others auras, or not helping to heal someone who is hurting. This gets them in another situation besides trying to find Jill. Helping Olive and while doing this, I get to see a whole new side of them as a couple.

The twists were pretty awesome, some that I had hoped for, and others that never really crossed my mind. I loved seeing how much the characters have grown in the story. How much Adrian has matured and how his personality has stayed- his sarcasm, quick wit, and humor. But also other things, like his struggle with spirit use have evened out, and though its not perfect, you'd never expect it to be. Sydney has changed in many ways, and then the same in others.

Everything came together even though it did feel a bit busy at times, into a great ending for these characters and possibly even this world.

Bottom Line: Great ending, hot romance and wonderful character arc completion.

My question to you, my lovely readers:
Could you date someone from another species?
