Going into The Ruby Circle, I felt so torn. I couldn't wait to read more about Sydney and Adrian but I also knew that when this book was over, the stories with these two as the main characters would be over. I don't know if Mead has any plans to visit this universe again, but even if she does, while we got some updates from Rose and Dimitri and Lissa, it wasn't the same as being in Rose's head.

I love how nerdy Sydney is. She is smart and resourceful, she is loyal, and it has been hard for her to see the Alchemists acting in ways that she grew up believing they were someone different. And now she is on the run from them, but her and Adrian are closer than ever. She has found her chosen family in him, Neil, Eddie and Jill. Who they are desperate to find before it is too late.

I love being in Adrian's head. Seeing his devotion and love for Sydney and not just trusting. So the dual narrative is awesome for me. He is battling the use of spirit. He wants to, but he also has a hard time when he can't see others auras, or not helping to heal someone who is hurting. This gets them in another situation besides trying to find Jill. Helping Olive and while doing this, I get to see a whole new side of them as a couple.

The twists were pretty awesome, some that I had hoped for, and others that never really crossed my mind. I loved seeing how much the characters have grown in the story. How much Adrian has matured and how his personality has stayed- his sarcasm, quick wit, and humor. But also other things, like his struggle with spirit use have evened out, and though its not perfect, you'd never expect it to be. Sydney has changed in many ways, and then the same in others.

Everything came together even though it did feel a bit busy at times, into a great ending for these characters and possibly even this world.

Bottom Line: Great ending, hot romance and wonderful character arc completion.

My question to you, my lovely readers:
Could you date someone from another species?

  1. Good question in this post....I really do not know, if he was hot though

  2. I loved Adrian in VA, but 've always thought he was immature for his age, which is why I never thought him and Rose never fit, so glad to see his growth has really matured in this series, now it's finished I can finally read them, whoo! Ha, I totally would.

  3. I'm glad that series was good until the end :) I don't know about your question... Spike is a vampire, another species then, I'd date him anytime !!!

  4. I have heard so much about this series, and even saw this book at Barnes and Noble yesterday. I'm glad it had a good ending. I think I will pick this series up soon!

  5. I've been hearing great things about this series! Glad to hear you loved the conclusion. As for the question, sure, as long as there's chemistry, I would be game for anything. :)

  6. I have GOT to read this! I like Richelle Mead's style and I've got several of her books waiting on my shelf. Sigh. Great review :)

  7. I'm glad that you enjoyed this one! Unfortunately, I won't have time to do much fun reading until mid-May, so it'll be a while until I can read The Ruby Circle and finally find out how it all ends. I can't wait until then! Thanks for keeping your review spoiler free :)

  8. Oh, I'm so happy you enjoyed the conclusion to this series, Brandi. I'm nervous myself but I can't wait either! Hopefully I can get to it soon! :)

  9. You are having such fun with this series. I love when the twists are good and keep you flipping the pages!

  10. I have of course heard of this series, but haven't started it yet. I am glad you liked the ending. It's always hard to say goodbye to a loved series isn't it? One day I will get around to trying this author hopefully! Thanks!

  11. I'm loving the sound of those twists but am also dreading reading this knowing the series will be over-I'll miss all of the characters!

  12. So many people have been looking forward to reading this one! I haven't tried anything by this author before, or tried any of their books, but I love the sound of them. I added the first book to my TBR, especially as I know it stays good all the way to the end of the series ^.^

  13. I need to finish this series! I was a fan of Sydney from the very beginning, even in the Vampire Academy series. Nice to hear this ended well, but I'll be sad to say goodbye to the characters, too, Brandi! Wonderful review. :)
