Review: Easy by Tammara Webber

Easy
Easy by Tammara Webber
Rescued by a stranger.
Haunted by a secret
Sometimes, love isn’t easy…
He watched her, but never knew her. Until thanks to a chance encounter, he became her savior…
The attraction between them was undeniable. Yet the past he’d worked so hard to overcome, and the future she’d put so much faith in, threatened to tear them apart.
Only together could they fight the pain and guilt, face the truth—and find the unexpected power of love.

Blkosiner's Book Blog review
My first thoughts on putting the book down: More please? Unfortunately, this is not a series, but it definitely would make me interested if there was a follow up with the characters. I don't think it is in the cards, but alas, I think this is just my way of expressing how much I liked the characters and how I was invested in their story.
Jacqueline had my sympathy and my cheers from page one. She was a victim and watching her learn about herself and grow through her experiences touched me deeply. Sexual assault is something that hits way too close to home to me and also to probably many other readers. Even if not personally, through a friend or family member. We all think that it won't happen to us, and can all be surprised at the perpetrators at times. It can be people we know and possibly even love... I think that the message ultimately becomes, speak up, get help and stand together strong. It sounds simplistic, but that is really what people need to take away. It is woven beautifully through this story, and Tammara handles it with grace.
Lucas is HOT. He is that bad boy and I want a piece of him, broken, secrets and all. The reasons he does everything is so important and even the moments where I want to doubt him, I still see it all coming together into a picture of a man, with scars, but with a lot of love and things to offer. As much as I like a brooding guy, he turns that into something new and even more awe inspiring. He contributes to others, to helping them while helping himself work through his issues.
The secondary characters were also well crafted. Erin, Jacqueline's roomie, took me a second to warm up to her, but once I did, I loved every scene she was in. She was the right combo of supportive, encouraging, and fun. There was also Benji, who stole the scene in eco class. I loved what he brought to the story, whether a gay token or not. Then, you can't leave out the professor. It was neat how his story tied into "Landon's" and I was not expecting it. Then there is Kennedy. One minute I am thinking he is a butt, then I see a glimmer of the person I think Jacqueline fell for to start with, and then he goes on the rinse and repeat cycle and I want to Gibbs' clipboard to the back of the head again.
So, obviously, I loved the characters. Tammara nailed them and I couldn't take my eyes from their story.
This really was my kind of book--smoking chemistry, issues, a well done main character, and a love interest with protector instincts.
    Bottom line: Superb NA contemporary.

My question to you, my lovely readers:
Has anyone you've known tried to cover up something a friend did wrong?

  2. This book sounds FAB! I can't wait to read it. It sounds pretty similar to Pushing the Limits, so I'm sure that it'll go straight onto my favorites list. Great review, Brandi!

Erm, in answer to your question, I'm sure that they have, but I don't remember any particular incidences.

  3. It seems that everyone in the world liked this one! I guess it's about time for me to pick it up, even though I don't much care for contemporary.
I've heard/read so much about Lucas lately, I feel like I already know him.
This definitely goes to my tbr.
    Great review

  9. I agree with everything you said. This book and MC was easy to relate to and the characters were just the right amount of fun and serious. I wish it was going to be a series too lol. It's hard to find a good New Adult book these days.

  10. I am so excited that you loved Easy! I think people focus on what Jacqueline didn't do "right" at the beginning instead of her journey. Lucas was freaking amazing and I did not expect his own backstory to be so emotional. Tammara did handle every angle very well.

    Great review!

  11. I probably would've picked this one up already if it weren't for the male model on the cover. I really dislike this cover. It's weird and I can't help but judge it. LOL. The reviews are so nice, though. I'll try sometime, I'm sure!

  13. It seems that the book has an amazing cast of characters. I think people often choose to cover up something because they believe the alternative could be disastrous. I guess what matters is the intent behind the choice of not sharing the truth. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us!

  14. Great review!! I adored this book too, I'm so happy to see other people love it too and hear why they did.

The only crime-ish thing I ever covered up for a friend was not telling when I saw her shoplift a candy bar in 6th grade and it actually does still bother me to this day. I feel sort of slimy about it because she seemed so gleeful (and went on to do worse). I hope it didn't make me sanctimonious about it, but I think it gave me a little bit of an attitude that you have to do the right thing when it's small and easier.

  15. I loved this book!!! Such a great college-age book - and one of the first dubbed "New Adult". Tammara Webber, Colleen Hoover, and Jamie McGuire are pioneers for that age level! Great review! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

To answer the question - I don't know anyone personally, but of course it's happening to many people. Sorry my answer couldn't be more substantial! :)

  17. The Lucas in the cover is hot too! Well hopefully she'll write a spin off as a lot of people really love the story & characters esp now that she hot herself a publishing contract.

  18. I see this one everywhere and I think that's the exact reason I keep avoiding it-the hype. I didn't know this book was about sexual assault. A touchy topic, but from what it sounds like, the author handled it well. Great review, I'll have to pick this up eventually.

  22. I felt exactly the same way when the book ended! "Give me more!!" And yes, Lucas is freaking hot. Deliciously hot. I loved it!!

My only problem with the book was that I was SO FREAKING ANNOYED when Jacqueline wouldn't let him call the cops at the beginning. I don't care if she made it out okay or survived, you need to report the bastard so he doesn't do it again. UGH! But at least things kind of worked out in the end!

    Great review. :D
