I started this series when it came out, and I have followed it since, it is sad to know that my time with these characters has come to a close, but I am happy for them to get their ending.
C.C. Hunter doesn't disappoint. This gets right into the action and into the thick of things. Kylie has a lot of hard choices to make and it doesn't really ever give her a chance to rest and figure things out. After all, evil villians don't like to do that, they only make speeches to give you a chance to figure out how to beat them after all, lol.
Derek and Lucas are at the forefront, and as usual, I am so torn, but after the heartache in the last one, I don't know if that was actually closing his part or if its just leading to a more epic ending. They both have great things going for them and so sad to have to have one of their hearts shattered along with a piece of mine. But as the book went on, I knew the right choice for her, and totally agreed with it. It was the best possible ending to a love triangle like this, and I didn't know how Ms Hunter would do it, but she gave me the romantic HEA for them that I wanted.
As usual, the secondary characters are amazing. I love the bantering between Miranda and Della, and I am super excited to hear that Della will be the star in her very on spin off story. Holiday and Burnett are amazing too, and I love where she took them.
The rolling on the floor laughing humor is still in place, and there were several places that had me in stitches and my husband giving me that look and asking if the book needed to be taken away. Then I gave him my look and all was good.
The series ended beautifully, I feel like I got the resolution I wanted, I saw tremendous growth in Kylie. The romance was hot and tension filled.

Bottom Line: Great ending to awesome series.

My question to you, my lovely readers:
Do you like love triangles? If so, under what circumstances, and how resolved?

  1. It is so hard to say good-bye to a series and characters you enjoy. I am glad it was a good ending and you left it feeling good.

  2. Love, well ok sometimes

  3. I didn't really feel all that good about the first book since it focused strongly on the love triangle from the beginning, and I dislike LTs, but I'm so glad you're enjoying it. :)

  4. Gosh, I want to read this series. I am not a fan of love triangles, there are few that I tolerate.

  5. OM! I need to read the rest of this series. I read the first and so need the others. Glad you enjoyed the ending.

  6. I've heard such good things about this series. I'm glad you were thrilled with how it ended!

  7. The best feeling in the world is when a series you love ends well. Happy this was such a great one for you.

  8. I'm so glad to hear this was a satisfying ending for you! I haven't read the series, but it's nice to know it is going somewhere before starting. And no, I don't really like LT's in general, but there are always exceptions. It just depends how they're written. Lovely review!

  9. I MUST start this series! I'm happy you felt the ending was worthy of the series, Brandi.

  10. I didn't know it was already book 5! It's great the series is always good.

  11. I haven't read this series yet but I remember hearing good things about it. I'm glad you enjoyed this one!

I'm not a fan of love triangles most of the time but once in awhile one works. It's best if no one is left with a broken heart though, that just makes me sad. :(

  12. I don't mind love triangles when they help to bring out a different layer of character development but I wouldn't appreciate it if the entanglement is there just to make the story sound angst-y. I've been on Team Derek and so I feel kinda torn when things seem more hopeful between Lucas and Kylie. Glad to know that you loved the ending :)
