Pieces of Me by Kira Adams
For sixteen year old Peyton Lane, life has never been easy. She’s not popular, overweight, and oh yeah, her sister is embarrassed of her. But over the course of a tumultuous year, everything changes for Peyton. Suddenly all eyes are on her and it’s not because she’s fat. From a pair of handsome twins to a couple of dangerously sexy rockers, Peyton will have to find out who she can trust with her heart. From the ups and downs to the twists and turns—this is Peyton’s story of finding one’s voice and growing into your own.
This is a coming of age romance that involves realistic situations and raw emotions.

A realistic and gritty story showcasing the struggles most teenagers encounter.
--How did you get the idea for the story?
Honestly, I’m not sure. One day I was at work and it was really slow, so I sat down and wrote three chapters of Pieces of Me that day. The first scene I wrote was the one where she bumps into Kari Ann in the hall, and I realized that not enough people write about bullying and its effects—and thus, Peyton was born.
--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?
Most: Probably Colton. Most people who have read POM know Colton was based off of a real life musician I know who is in a decently well-known band.
Least: Kari Ann or Jax for sure. I don’t want to give too much away, but if you’ve read POM you’ll understand why.
--Do you have any other works in progress? Any teasers or release dates?
I am currently almost finished writing my first draft of the second book in my Foundation series, the Fighter. It follows a secondary character from Pieces of Me throughout his crazy life. I don’t have any teasers or release dates yet, but it will more than likely be released sometime in October.
--What book(s) is your book’s “cousin”? (Similar kind of read, set-up or style)
Probably my Infinite Love series: My Forever. Most of my readers who read my Foundation series tend to continue on to that series after. However, the one difference is my Foundation series is strictly YA, whereas the other starts as YA and shifts into NA for the second novel.
--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?
Tuesdays with Morrie, the Hunger Games trilogy, Hush, Hush, and the Host. And I definitely don’t have as much time as I’d like to read.
--If a fairy godmother told you could be put into the world of your favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?
Probably Tuesdays with Morrie. He is so wise and I could learn a lot in that 24 hours just chatting with him. However, I’ve always been curious about having a host living in my body…
--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on your playlist- songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?
It is really difficult for me to listen to music and write. Which is odd because I have music playing literally every second of everyday. However, when I write, I prefer complete silence. The only thing I really need is to not write past 7 pm at night. It seems strange, but if I start writing any later than six or six thirty, I am bound to fall asleep while writing.
--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
I would love to be able to read minds and find out what people are really thinking.
--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?
Acting, singing, hanging out with friends, reading, and watching Netflix.
--What is one thing you would tell your 15 year old self?
You are beautiful—you don’t have to settle.
You are beautiful—you don’t have to settle.
--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?
