I have a question for you this week- how you do find out about author appearances? I checked out a bunch of author sites today but I am wondering if there is some magical place (please say so) that will tell you ones in your area.
That's a very good question! If you check your local bookstore's website regularly they often list which authors are dropping by. Sometimes book signings are planned months in advance, other times just weeks in advance. Either way each book store should have a listing.
There are two places that always host authors and I follow them on Twitter, Facebook, and their website. I also follow authors on Twitter and Facebook so I hear about author events that way or through friends too.
I would like to know this, too. Not that I expect many authors to come to my area of Canada. I'm going to try TK Richardson's advice and check out some bookstores.
I don't answer your question now, that's just a message to tell you that I DID IT: I wrote the first entry in French/English in my blog :) Happy New Year !
I usually check out the events page of nearby / favorite bookstores. For me, in NYC, that would be the Strand and Books of Wonder and ocassionally B&N. Authors I follow usually tweet about signings/readings as well.
I joined Booktour.com, it doesn't let me know of every local author appearance but it has notified me of some. In Phoenix there are several indie bookstores that regularly have author signings and I am registered for their weekly newsletters. Good luck!
I would love to hear from you! (I always try to visit your blog back) I love links, so feel free to link to your blog or a post you like. Sorry, but I am award and tag free zone, I do not have the time to return. Comments are reward enough :)

ReplyDeleteApparently you live in a state other than Minnesota, because YA authors never seem to come here.
