My week: Super busy. I have been stressed because I have requested or been sent way too many books. I have left them right to the publication date, and have review after review scheduled and reading the books the night before. Then I get sent books that I didn't request, and I feel bad that I will not get to them, or that I haven't read the first in the series, or just plain not interested. I try to at least post them here, but having a hard time keeping up with that too. Hate to complain about free books, but I feel responsbile and that I made a committment. I don't want to get burned out though, so some of it may start to get pushed back or say no more often.
My knee has been getting better, but I still have a limp and its effecting my back and neck and causing a bit of a fibro flare. I am considering asking for a handicapped tag, and I feel like my hubby isn't really supportive of that or the disability application process.
What are you reading? Any of my books new to you or have you read any of my books? If so, what did you think?
Also, feel free to link up your blog and mailbox post.
I hear you, I do say yes to a lot ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're feeling much better soon. Fibro is a nightmare. My sister suffers with it, so I can completely sympathise. Try not to stress about your reading so much. I know it's easier said than done (I know I do it!) But reading should be totally enjoyable!
ReplyDeleteI got burned out trying to do too many read and reviews and trying to meet all the deadlines. I don't have the same time to do it now so I'm scaling back and trying to enjoy my reading. Sounds like you need a holiday!
ReplyDeleteyou read a lot of books! I hope you'll enjoy the 2 new ones. Happy reading!
ReplyDelete*Hugs* Hope your knee will stop hurting soon. <3 Being in pain is the worst. Sigh. Anyway. Lots of awesome books :D I hope you love them all. <3 Curious to see what you thought about The Truth About Alice. I gave it a two star :p Didn't enjoy it that much :\ Sigh.
ReplyDeleteHope your knee gets better soon! I totally feel you one being overwhelmed with books. Although I haven't been getting many review books lately. I still have too many though! Got back from RT with quite a haul and have some ARCs in there too! So yeah, definitely overwhelmed!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT weekend!
Old Follower :)
I hear you on the review books and I also feel guilty when I can't get to the ones I received unsolicited. All those books and trying to get them read and reviewed can be stressful.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the process for a handicap tag; in my state it's a PITA. I hope your flare settles down and your knee and back too.
I totally understand about requesting / receiving too many books! I've been especially burned out recently because I took a couple months off to focus on my studies and now have a lot of catching up to do! I hope you feel better soon :)
ReplyDeleteBrandi, I for one can totally understand how you feel. Its hard to turn down book requests when the books sound so good. Be there done that and doing it. I don't know how many times I have over booked myself and rushing to read. As for the books you get sent that you didn't request, don't worry about it. When that happens to me I try and make sure to post them in my mailbox post and if they are an arc i will post the cover and blurb on release date.
ReplyDeleteI always try and find a good home for those one. Perhaps a friend would read and review for you?
Such a great list of books! And I'm very sorry you haven't been feeling well and that there are too many books waiting for a review. You can only do what you can and if not your health goes before work. Get well soon and hang in there. I can't wait to read the Truth about Alice, it sounds like a great book!
ReplyDeleteMen are often not too good in taking hints and reading feelings...
I didn't love TMC, but I hope you do! I also need to read Meridian! And Take By the Skies looks good!
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading!!
Nicole @ The Quiet Concert
Oh I know what you mean! So many books, so little time. I do hope you'll find the time to enjoy the books, anyway.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Brandi!
The ones you get that you don't request, meh, you didn't ask for them. I generally give those books to other bloggers. I hope your knee gets better!
ReplyDeleteAnd I read The Murder Complex, but I was actually a little disappointed! I hope you like it more than I did :)
Have a fabulous weekend!
Check out my STS post!
I do want to read The Truth About Alice. and if you're having trouble walking, you should get a handicapped tag; you're not abusing it or anything.

Naomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
I liked The Truth About Alice, I thought the premise was unique. Enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteGet what you mean about unsolicited ones though, I had a few back in March and April that were too close to the release date, so read them (since if I don't read the physical copies, I feel bad- ebooks not so much) but missed out on half of my April/May ebooks because of it. But, The Murder Complex <3
ReplyDeleteHere's mine
Kirsty @ StudioReads
I reviewed Nova and Quinton last week too! Oh and I've heard great things about The Murder Complex! Hope you have a great week!

I'm sorry about your knee, fibro is a bitch ! Hope the week to come will be better ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Truth About Alice sounds like a good book. I've got an e-galley of The Murder Complex that I need to get to!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Sunday Post
I'm glad you're doing better! I used to feel bad about not reading unsolicited books, but those days are long gone.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books!
The Murder Complex looks so good!! I have seen it around and I really hope you'll enjoy it. Great haul, Brandi :)
ReplyDeleteOh you got a lot of good books this week! I had gone through that awhile back (not long ago) and just felt SO overwhelmed! Fortunately I've done good getting through my review books this time around, other than a few MG that I've just not been in the mood for.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling a bit better, but it sounds like things are still tough. I hope you're in some sort of physical therapy because I know from experience that it makes a load of a difference in recovery.
I am in PT and its helping.
ReplyDeleteI just made a review calendar so maybe that will help if I see if I have time, leaving 3-4 days for each book.
Yeah, I was okay with it for a while, but totally felt over my head
ReplyDeleteugh hate it
ReplyDeleteAw, you get many unsolicited ebooks too?
ReplyDeleteI didn't visit everyday, busy. Thanks for back chekcing
ReplyDeleteMy doc said she didn't give them but PT might but probably not since technically at the worst my knee was something that would heal
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to get a local friend to review with me on the blog, but she is busy
ReplyDeleteOh yes, any breaks stresses me out, but life happens
ReplyDeleteThat is a great point!
ReplyDeleteOh, and its not showing me your blog address... if you read this let me know so I can visit you!
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi sure here is my link http://cindysloveofbooks,com
ReplyDeleteI hope you continue to get better! I'm behind with my review books as well because of school, but I'm trying to catch up. Hopefully now that I'm out I can catch up.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo for the print copies from HarperCollins. They are the best!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your review queue backlog, that always stresses me out too. Hopefully they will all be fab reads and you'll just fly right through them!
ReplyDeleteOh, I have to learn to say no :) I get too many offered now - never thought that would happen when I first started to get into book blogging. Feel bad for saying 'No, not my cup of tea.'. I am accepting at the moment, but tell them it will take a while, so if they have a particular date in mind, I can't do it :(
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and Happy Reading.
My Sunday Post is here
Enjoy your new books from HarperCollins. I try to do giveaways for books that are sent unsolicited that I know I won't be reading.
ReplyDeleteI used to request lots of books and ended up burning out myself so I request slightly less now. It's difficult saying no to potential good reads! I've seen a couple of blogs with Third Degree and now I'm intrigued. Enjoy your haul!
