My Review:

Nocture was a dark but still sweet book. It's plot was unique in that there are only two characters and it spans over four days. This is a unique challenge and James does it well. I still cared for the characters, and in fact, I was able to learn so much more about them.

I really enjoyed the little details that made Michael's character believable and likable. He is a complex character with a history and hobbies and interests.

Even though Nicole is not a teen, I was still able to connect with her. She had a great voice, and believable reactions. I like that she acts in fear and questioning like I probably would if I happened to be in that situation.

The ending is bittersweet. I appreciate what they did and why they did it. It is unique and has stayed with me.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for a paranormal romance with vampires, with a bit of a new twist.

  1. The plot reminds me a little about Companions of the Night by Vivian Vande Velde (with all this a human and a vampire alone in a house, attracted to each other, getting to know each other yada yada) and that's why I haven't picked it up by now. But thanks for the review, I can see that there are some interesting and unique thinks to look for in this novel, so I guess I'll check it out ASAP.:)

  2. This sounds like a good book - I love books with twists on the paranormal!

As it happens, I'm ordering it later! I can't wait!

(Oh, and I so agree: definately Team Stefan and Edward! Have you read Vampire Academy - it's one of my favourite series ever! That's pretty random, but I think everyone should read it: it's that good!)

Thanks for commenting, and brilliant review!

  6. I've been interested in this book for a while now, but was always wary of reading it. I'm happy you mentioned that Nicole is not a teen because I was trying to figure that out before I went out to get it. Other reviews have said it reads more like an adult book because of a more sexual nature, but I'm still willing it give it a shot. Thanks for the review.
